I'm just a Sims fan like yourself. For more info, visit the
About section.

Are you the one that won a Maxis moviemaking contest?
Yes, I won the Maxis New Beginnings movie contest and won Best Drama and Runner Up for Best Film in the Maxis Student Life movie contest. You can see all of the official winners of the
New Beginnings contest and the Student Life contest on the official Sims 2 Web site.

What's your member name on the official BBS?
My member name on the official BBS is:

aprylhalbrooks14

A lot of people think I'm 14 because of my member name but I'm really a 30-something. 14 is just my lucky number!

Where do you usually hang out online?
The Sims message board
Neighborhood 99 is my daily hangout. (N99 requires registration but it's free.) You'll find me there as:

FictionAddict

How do I download your content?
Find the item you want to download and on the bottom left of each page, you'll see the word "Download" in bold. Click on "Download" and the files you'll need will appear.

Where do I put clothes after I download them?
Navigate your computer to My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads folder. After you click "Download" on Sims2Studio.com, put the file that appears in the Downloads folder on your computer.

What do I do with the houses after I download them?
Houses are packaged up and ready to go. Simply double click on the file that appears after you click "Download." If a box appears asking you to "Open" or "Cancel," choose Open. A blue box will then pop up and you select "Install." Next time you start your game, the new house will appear in your houses bin.

How do I use the terrains?
After you click on "Download" for the terrain you want, three files will appear. Open the text file "Terrain Instructions" for full instructions on how to use your terrain file.

What do I do with wallpapers and floors?
Walls and floors are packaged up and only require a few clicks to install. Simply double click on the file that appears. If a box appears asking you to "Open" or "Cancel," choose Open. A blue box will then pop up and you choose "Install." Next time you start your game, the new wallpaper or floor will appear in Build Mode.

How do I use object recolors in my game?
After you click on "Download" for the recolored object you want, you'll see two files. Open the text file "Content Instructions" for full instructions on how to use your recolored object file.

Do you take requests for custom content?
Sure!
Send me an Email and let me know what exactly you're wanting. If you have links to pictures or something similar to what you need, send those along too so I can get a good feel for what you want.

Can I use your content on my own site, in my movie, etc.?
Sure, I don't mind. The Sim community thrives on sharing but please don't claim the creation as your own.

If you do use something I've created, giving credit is greatly appreciated.

Will you be adding new downloads?
Of course! I'm creating new stuff all the time so do check the site often for new content.

Are there ways I can help save your bandwidth?
When you're visiting the Movies section, be sure to "Right Click" on the word "Download" and choose "Save Target As" to save the movie on your computer. This way, you can watch the movie whenever you want and you won't be cutting into the bandwidth here on the site. This will help me tremendously and I really do appreciate your help with this!

What kind of graphics software do you use for clothes?
I use
PaintShop Pro. I've used Adobe Photoshop in the past but I've always found PaintShop works best for me.

What kind of movie editing software do you use?
I use
Ulead Video Studio but many great movies have been made using Windows Movie Maker, which is free. Other good programs moviemakers use include Magix Movie Edit Pro, Sony Vegas and Video Explosion.

Most of the paid software has a free trial version so you can give it a test drive. If you're new to moviemaking, it's much easier to learn the basics of editing using Windows Movie Maker. That way, you won't waste your trial version of the paid software trying to figure out how to edit instead of enjoying the features of your trial version.

Do you have any moviemaking tips?
I don't claim to be an expert but I'm glad to share what I do know with you. If you're just getting started, I encourage you to be patient and stick to it.

I know it's intimidating to see the talent out there and you have no idea how to begin. You can do it, though!

The editing tip I give out the most is to shoot the same scenes from various angles. Watch your favorite TV shows and see the many shots they use for that one scene. This adds realism to your project.

How do you get voices in your movies?
To put voices in your movies, all you need is a microphone. Or you can always ask for voice help on the official bulletin board and all you would do is send them a script of what you want them to say.

After you've created the voices or had someone do them for you, you simply put the voice file (such as joe.wav) in the voice track of your movie editing software. Windows MovieMaker is popular because it's free and is usually on the newer computers in your Program Files folder (under Movie Maker).

You can always take that one voice clip and break it up just as you would a movie clip. That way, if you have a Sim saying five sentences but those sentences are not all together, you can just clip the file in your editing program and then re-open the master file and use it whenever your Sim's next sentence comes in.

Where can I get more movie tips?
Check
my Blog over on the official Sims 2 site. I've got lots of movie tips posted there so be sure to check previous months for help with voices, special effects and movie editing.
